While there is no national coverage determination for contrast sensitivity testing, there are some local Medicare policies or LCDs. No Medicare policy provides for separate reimbursement of contrast sensitivity testing. Either the test is considered part of an eye examination or consultation or it is treated as an element of screening and non-covered.
